The show of the clown

A new reality TV show called “The show of the clown” will be on our screens next month. It is about ten clowns that will be competing for three months. The clown who makes you laugh more than the others will win. In the first programme, the clowns will be announced and will tell jokes.

The clowns will be filmed 22 hours a day and will live together in a small house that they will build.

The clown who win the game will be millionaire because he will pick up $1000000! And then he or she will have his or her own TV programme. It will be fantastic and very funny.

CARS IN THE CITIES

In cities, there are a lot of cars. People need cars to go to a place from another, or to go to work. But cars have negative sides: in cities there are a lot of accidents.

However, there are positive sides. For example, we need cars to travel more quickly wherever we want. People who need them to work use them very often. But you can have a car for pleasure, too.

On the other hand, they make a lot of smoke that produce pollution. In addition there are a lot of car accidents, because there are people who don’t reduce the speed.

To conclude, cars are not very necessary but if you have a car, try to slow down.

b) Describe Mina. Why was she in danger in the story? What happened at the end?
c) Who were Lucy and Arthur? What happened to them in the story? How did they help the protagonists?
d) Is this a real, true story? Or part of it? Which elements are real and which fiction?

Hi!

Yesterday my brother got married an we all were happy. But coming to Italy wasn´t so easy. I think that I just had bad luck, but sometimes I wonder if I have done something bad to hapen to me this.
When I was at the port, the manager of journeys told all the people who were going to travel that the trip was canceled. A man asked why, and the other one said that our ship had borken, and there was no way to travel. I approached the man and told him that going to Europe was very important for me, because my brother was getting married next week. The man thought for a few minutes and then told me that if I was very brave, there was a chance to get to Italy in four days. He expained me that there was a motor bote that nobody was using. The man also said that if I accept doing that, there were a lot of risks like the cold or the food. He said that the company was no responsible if something happened to me, and that made me think for a long time. But I couldn´t miss my brother´s wedding, he would never forgive me!
So I accepted, and two hours later I was alone, at the bote. Of course I felt awful at that moment, but the only thing that I could do was waiting. You can´t imagine all the things that I thougth when I was alone, with nobody to rescue me if something happened or if I died, when will somebody know it? The food was finishing and my desesparation was increasing. At the third day, I couls see some land and the other day, I was on Europe. I never knew how did I survive, but this is a story that everybody will know.
I will write you again next weekend.
See you,
Hellen

Will there still be schools and teachers in the future ?

The %75 of the people, think that computers will defies human's intelligence, and computers will replace schools and teachers. I don't belive that, i think that all will be continued as today.

Scientist sais that in 80 years everyone could have his own machine, who teach you all the things that you sudy now in the school, and all the peple who works in schools, will lose their jobs.

However i know that humans are more than a simple robot, their intelligence is better, computers never will be better than human's intelligence.

The conclude is that computers is a fantastic human's invention, but they never will be better than us intelligence

Will there still be schools and teachers in the future?

People don't think about the future, their children future. Teachers would be replaced by any machine, which is obviously more intelligent. And schools would not exist anymore, because everyone could have a good robot, bought by them.

Children need a good teacher. Someone who teaches you about life with their experiencies,
because they are living it too, and you could learn about their mistakes. And a robot could never help you with that, because they never make mistakes.

This is worse to directors too, because they would lose their job. And students will learn worse than the students of today.

To sum up, I would like to say that teachers are important in our lifes, because they put their
heart and mind in teaching us all what they know. And schools are a good way for children to learn about the real life, with other people and place.

Will there still be schools and teachers in the future?

The computers and robots will be the teachers in the future. In those 10 years, the technology has been increasing a lot.

The scientists say that they have now some models of computers that can teaches and can help people to study. In the computers will be a program that teaches you, and the robots will copy what does a teacher do.

In China they are using this method.
I went to China, because I’m a scientist, to investigate those methods, so they sowed me a computer that do all the things I´m talking about.

We won’t need teachers and we won’t need schools. The teachers will be the robots and the computers, and woe won´t need schools, because you can use a computer at home.

What do the teachers do. They don´t teach us only how to study, they theach us how to be a good person, the computers can´t listen to us, they don´t have a heart us a teacher.

Will there still be schools and teachers in the future?

Scientists say that in aproximately 20 years there won't be any schools or teachers. I'm not really sure if it will happen... I'm wondering... Will computers replace schools?

In the last few years courses (to learn new things) and school exercises appeared in the Internet. Some schools have blogs online and teachers give the students some homework to post in them. There are some Internet sites that teach grammar, languages and other subjects and they have exercises to make sure you've learnt.

But I think nothing can replace schools and teachers, because at school you can talk with other students, ask specific questions to the teacher, work in groups, have a social life and make friends. Maybe you can learn some things in the Internet, but it can't replace schools. Schools are like our second home... Schools are more than sitting, studing and learning, schools are places where you go every day, you meet new people and places you remember even when you re old. Definitely, nothing could replace them.

Anyway, if computers replace schools, it will be a great technology advance. In 20 years maybe children will learn and study from their homes, with their computers. Maybe they will be able to see and talk to their teachers with a web camera and a microphone. It won't be the same, but it will be a technology advance.

Will there still be schools and teachers in the future?

Scientists claim that in 40 years’ time probably won’t be any schools or teachers, that they will probably be replaced with computers and robots. The children will be able to study from the computer or be taught by a robot. But, will that prediction really take place?
If is true what they’ve said, our children and grandsons won’t go to school, they might stay all day at home and go to class without moving from their beds. The science has grown so much those last years, that I think this idea will probably become true.
But I don’t know if I really want that all this happens. The computers can have a lot of memory, a robot can be very intelligent, but I think nothing can replace schools and teachers.
To conclude, I want to say that a virtual school or a robot teacher will be really very useful inventions, but school, as well as an obligation, is the most important social activity that the children have. So I prefer school and teachers because they can’t be replaced with a piece of metal without a real brain and feelings.

Will there still be schools and teachers in the future?

A lot of people think that schools and teachers will be forever.
I agree with them and I believe that it will be really happen.

It’s necessary that in the future will be schools and teachers. In my opinion some indigence will need schools and people will teach and help them to get knowledge. These people won’t have access to the internet and to the technology. But through the schools those people will have access to the books, because there will be a library.

In the future the technology is likely to advance. So there will be very necessary schools and qualified people will teach and explain that technology

To conclude, I would like to say that is fantastic to know that in the future will be schools and teachers. Because they benefit us and the all humanity

Will it be possible to live forever?

Ray Kurzweil and other scientists thinks, that in a couple of years the technology will be able to make us live for ever. We will get a computer chip into our brain, so we could live longer and forever.

The idea is getting possible. The technology has grown very fast, in the last 10 years. Every day we see new things invented by the scientists and the memory of all new computers are getting better and bigger.

To conclude, I would like to say that I agree with Ray Kurzweil idea. A lot of old people are fascinated with this chip computer, because before they knew about this invention they thought that they won’t known their grandchild’s. But now they are amazed that they could meet them.

Will it be possible to live forever?

Some people, like Ray Kurzweil (a book writer), said that in a little more than 50 years, we’ll probably be able to live forever. We’ll download our own consciousness on a computer and we will never die.

This idea might be possible. The Technology grows every year and it’s more and more interesting all the time. There are many new inventions every day, and they are more perfect and fascinating than the older ones.

But, I don’t agree with Ray Kurzweil’s idea. Imagine that we are likely to enter on the Internet and see people’s memories; it won’t be nice for them that we see their secrets and actions! And, if ALL the people that die download their lives into a computer, (and, of course, more people die) these machines will be so overloaded!!

Will there still be schools and teachers in the future?

Scientists claim that in 70 years time, there won’t be human teachers. There will be robot teacher that are likely to be even more intelligent that humans.
They will teach to the human children at school about technology and the humans teachers will teach to the robot children about their life.

It is true that computer scientist have made incredible inventions over last few years. They have built computers that have really big memory capacities like robots. They have developed robots that can understand things people say, and can give significant answers. They won’t be very likely but their brains can remember a lot more than humans.

To conclude, I would like to say that robot teachers are a interesting invention. In 70 years time, we will probably have robots that can do things that today we cannot do, or they can teach better that human. But I believe human intelligence will always be higher than artificial intelligence.

Will there still be schools and teachers in the future?

The teachers have done a lot for schooling; all the doctors, lawyers, etc. have gone to a school and had teachers who taught them.
It’s important to have education, the kids are the future and if they don’t go to a good school now, in the future there won’t be professionals.

The technology advanced a lot in the last years, so always there will be a way to learn with teachers in a school or with robots in his house.

We know that the robots have good memory but I think it can’t replace the human intelligence. Education is so important that they could not do this difficult work. The teachers study for how to explain to kid mathematics or something like this however, the robots have a chip that know this things. But… What will they do when a child ask a question that it can not answer?
A teacher can ask the answer to other people, read a book or something, but a robot can’t do this.

To finish, I would like to say that it’s very important to go to a school now that we have it, in the future we will see what to do.
With teachers, computers or robots the information that we learn is the same, but there are a lot of ways to explain it.
I believe that robots will teach things in different and fantastic ways but the humans have a only and irreplaceable form to do this.

Letter from Ellen (por Bri)

Hi!

Can you guess where I am at this moment? In the middle of a sailor's race! Have to travel across the world from England. Have to stop in Cuba, Alaska, Japan and England at last. I've just passed Alaska. It's a long journey crossing the Pacific Ocean. It looks very dangerous :|, but I'm okay. When I was heading for Cuba, suddenly, a huge shark appeared and surrounded me for a long time. I waited for the shark to go away, but it was still there, so I avoided it quickly, because I was at the bottom of the race. The screen was awsome, but the rain came from a moment to another. I felt very sad, but I kept fighting against the obstacles of the sea. Got to go or the letter will get wet! Will try to write you again. Might when I get back to England...

Love you.
Ellen

Email from Ellen (por Pau)

Hi!
Do you know where I am writing from? The middle of the ocean!! I don’t know exactly where I am, but don’t worry, I think I’m heading for the North…
I have been sailing for about three months and I am a little exhausted to be alone all this time, but I’m enjoying a lot this trip. The landscape is wonderful! :D The sea is quiet, the sun is shinning and the sky is blue and clear.
How’s life there? I hope that’s all OK. I think you are missing me a lot, don’t you?? =P
A few days ago, something strange happened to me: while I was sleeping I heard a strange noise and woke up immediately. There were a lot of gulls around me!! They came because I had left some food on the boat’s floor!! They were so pretty… They bothered me a little, but it has been a great experience.
I have to finish because I’m very hungry so I’m going to prepare some food (I have a lot of cans of food), but will write you again soon because I’m very lonely and miss you a lot :’( …
Kisses,
Ellen
